We are committed to ensuring that events and programs held throughout the City of Rockingham are able to be enjoyed by all community members, including people with disability.

International Day of People With Disability

Celebrate International Day of People with Disability with a range of free and inclusive activities across the City of Rockingham.

Community Market - International Day of People with Disability

The City is collaborating with Microenterprise People to host an inclusive community market in celebration of International Day of People with Disability. The event will include microenterprise stalls and fun, free activities.

10am-2pm on Saturday 28 November at Churchill Park, Rockingham Foreshore

About our inclusive events and programs

We provide a wide range of activities, events and programs for the community throughout the year, with the aim of ensuring that these are accessible and inclusive for all attendees.

Major community events include the Castaways Sculpture Awards, Christmas Lights Launch, New Year’s Eve, Celebrate Australia Day Celebration, Symphony on the Green and Performance in the Park.

We will continue to expand on the provision of accessible and inclusive event services, including:

Auslan interpretation
audio-loops
tactile tours
beach matting
free use of beach wheelchairs and walkers
accessible viewing areas
chill out zones
Sensory-Santa meet and greet (Christmas Lights Launch only)
social stories
accessible toilets
additional ACROD parking close to the event
noise-cancelling headphones.

City of Rockingham has partnered with Reclink to deliver three, free recreation programs in 2026, aimed at supporting people with disability to have fun, move your body and connect with others.

All Abilities Chair Yoga	Mondays weekly, 9am – 9.45am	Warnbro Community Recreation Centre	Gentle, low impact movement and stretching sessions using the support of a chair. All Abilities Multi-Sport Program	Wednesdays weekly, 10.30am – 11.30am	Mike Barnett Sports Complex	Each week offers something different - from soccer to basketball to movement games. Designed especially for people with disability, activities are adapted to suit all abilities and support needs. There’s no pressure, no competition, and no experience needed. All Abilities Bollywood Dance	Wednesdays weekly, 9.30am-10.15am	Warnbro Recreation Centre	Experience the energy, colour, and joy of Bollywood in a fun, welcoming and inclusive dance program designed for adults of all abilities. Whether you're dancing for fitness, social connection or simply to try something new, this relaxed class is a great way to stay active while enjoying the vibrant rhythms of Bollywood music.	Movements can be adapted to suit individual abilities, with participants encouraged to move at their own pace in a supportive, non-judgemental environment. ACROD parking available.
All Abilities Gentle Pilates	Fridays weekly, 11.30am-12.30pm	Baldivis Indoor Sports Complex	Improve your strength, flexibility and confidence in a welcoming, supportive and inclusive Pilates program designed for adults of all abilities. This gentle class focuses on improving posture, balance, mobility and core strength through low-impact exercises that can be adapted to suit individual needs and abilities. Castaways Sculpture Awards is an outdoor art exhibition at the Rockingham Foreshore.

Each year, beach matting is provided along the sand to support people with limited mobility to view the exhibition. Beach wheelchairs and walkers are made available at the Information tent throughout the exhibition.

In 2026, Castaways will be running from 24 October to 1 November and community members are welcome to come down to the beach anytime during that period to view the artworks.

People with disability, including those who are blind or vision impaired, along with their friends and family, are invited to attend a Tactile Tour of the Castaways Sculpture Awards where they can touch and interact with selected artworks.
